Welcome to CommunitySing!
What is CommunitySing!
CommunitySing! is an open-hearted, inclusive music-making program where amateur musicians from the local area are invited to sing through a major choral work, hosted at First Presbyterian of Howard County. We’ll rehearse some major choruses, invite a local choral group to present a short mini-concert during the course of the evening, take a break and then sing through an entire major choral work. No regular rehearsals, no pressure, no uniforms. The Sings will also be connected to community partners to raise funds and awareness for their activities.

CommunitySing! Members Music Experience
Music experience is what we’re looking for, but it doesn’t have to be recent! Reading music is certainly helpful but you don’t need to be perfect. CommunitySing! Is looking to serve the music needs of people who love music and singing, but maybe don’t have the time or bandwidth to for a regular weekly rehearsal in an established group. There are many of us out there that sang in amazing groups in high school, college or after, but have had to go a different path for a while.

The amazing part of a Sing is that there are no rehearsals! We’ll rehearse the major choruses after a warm up and before running the entire work.

High School age on up. If you sing, read a bit of music or read a lot of music, you’re in!
-
Absolutely. If you read music and have some singing experience, this is a great way to get to know a major choral work!

First Presbyterian Church of Howard County has graciously donated the use of their recently rehabbed sanctuary. They’re located at 9325 Presbyterian Circle, Columbia, MD 21045. There’s plenty of parking at the church and in the park and ride lot out front. The church is also ADA accessible.

Come as you are! Dress is casual. You might want to bring a water bottle and a pencil if using a paper score or a tablet if you prefer to have your score that way.
